Pilotenkurs III / MMVII

Rules Of Aviation

November 30th, 2007
  1. Every T/O is optional – landings are mandatory.
  2. Gravity is a law – it’s not optional.
  3. Never let an aeroplane take you somewhere, where your brain did not arrive first.
  4. When in doubt, maintain altitude; no one ever collided with the sky.
  5. The only time you have too much fuel is when you are on fire.
  6. Learn from the mistakes of others. You won’t live long enough to make all of them yourself.
  7. The most useless things for a pilot are: altitude above you, runway behind you and the airspace in the tank.
  8. It is far better to be on the ground wishing you were flying, than flying wishing you are on the ground.
  9. Always keep the number of landings equal to the number of take-offs.
  10. A good landing is one you can walk away from – a better on is when they can use the aeroplane again.
  11. There are three simple rules to making a perfect landing – unfortunately no one knows what they are.
  12. All pilots start with a full bag of luck and an empty bag of experience. Good pilots fill up the bag of experience before they empty the bag of luck.
